Chef for the Day

Yesterday, Peiying invited us to her house and we bought a lot of ingredients to prepare our own dinner. She also invited us to stay over night at her house but I was unable to do so. :(

Anyway, we were preparing the ingredients while waiting for Huijing to join us at the Fairprice, near Peiying's house later to get the dumpling skins and vegetables. That was my first time, shelling off a prawn, removed its head and chopped it into pieces. New experience...my hands did smell of prawn after that. :S

See, the 3D apple, Peiying and I completed this 3D puzzle while waiting for Peiying, after the preparation of the ingredients.

Our process of making the dumpling.
Our end product, the dumpling soup with tofu and lots and lots of vegetables and meat balls (leftovers after all the dumpling skins had been used up)
It was a new experience for me, from preparation of the ingredients, making the dumplings and cooking it. ^^

Unpleasant moment

Today was supposed to be a pleasant day for me, partly because it is a Friday and I was going to my favorite place, the bookshop.

However, I was fused with anger when I left the bookshop. This bookshop that I often went provides selling and renting service for all types of books, mainly English and Chinese books. I was looking for a specific title of this Chinese novel and already prepared to order it if the book was not available in the store.

However, when I entered the bookshop, I saw the staff who was happily talking to one of the customer, that was an old customer, I saw her previously, in the store too. The staff was looking at me with those weird look and when I asked for the availability of the book, she went to check for me but it was rented out. So I roamed around the shop for a while and along, she was still talking happily with the customer. Then I approached her at the counter again, and asked, or commented, " Normally, the duration for rented book to be returned is one month right?" The reason why I asked her that was because, I was thinking of asking her to reserve it for me, when the book is returned. So, she replied, " I don't know" and full stop. Suddenly, I don't see the point of talking to her anymore, especially facing that stonily face of hers, with the customer staring at me too. Apparently, she seemed urgent to resume the conversation with her "old" friend so I just left.

It is good to have interaction with your customers but I think, anyone who steps into a shop, he or she is a customer, regardless of first comers or old customers. I was expecting her to say, " yes, normally the duration is for one month but some people will return the books late: and offered to keep the books for me or asked if I want to order it. No, she was like one word, one word answer. This was different when I was in Japan.

I will never go back to this bookstore again which is located in United Square, near Novena MRT station and the bookstore name is " SAN BOOKSHOP".

I have decided to order my novels directly from Taiwan, although I have to wait for a few months before I can grab the copy but I think is worth it.

Reunion

"Happy Valentine's Day" \(>o<)/ Lots of love for all my friends. hahaha... Yesterday, I went to NTUC during my lunchtime and bought this box of strawberries, Korean strawberries and it was OIISHI!!!! yum yum, sweet and juicy. I was happily munching away at my desk. Muahahaha... Last night, I met up with my old friends, Rachel and FM. We went to this Korean BBQ restaurant, recommended by FM.

It was very fulfilling. Beside the raw meats meant for BBQ~ing and the set of side dish, there were still one stone pot of mixed rice and one big bowl of Ginseng chicken soup. The chicken was stuffed with ginseng, herbs and rice inside.

It was actually a birthday treat from Rachel and FM to me, thank you gals, it had been a long time since we met and once we met up, they had to waste money. Hehehe... I really enjoyed myself alot last night, FM and I even went for a coffee after that. Rachel left after the dinner with her husband...=.= " you lao gong, mei ren xing le" haha...

Older means wiser

haha...older means wiser...I hope so...yar, today is my birthday...haiz...I am one year older...NONONONONOON!!!! I used to look forward to my birthday when I was in school days but now, I am so dreadful about it. T.T

I had took leave today for my birthday but I didn't plan anything programme, instead I chose to stay at home and rot. Muahahaha...no lah, actually I brought my work home to do...=.=III and my stomach was quite upset these few days, to much lavish dinning outside. Juan treated me to BIG Restaurant at Wheelock last Tuesday and my bosses brought me out for lunch yesterday. Beside this, I was very happy because I had patched up this broken friendship with a friend, it was really so unexpected when it happened just a few days before and, tomorrow I have big hopes to mend the other one. Pray hard~~ I made the first move and I really hope I can amend this friendship and I will definitely treasure it. I believe this is a second chance to make things right and I am really grateful for it. =D

Okay, starting from the left, we had the deep fries for appetiser, and then followed by Seafood Penn Marinara ordered by Juan and last was my order, bacon wrapped around chicken leg (boneless) Yum, yum, yum
Well, back to my big day, I had bought a small cake for myself and finished 3/4 of it with two adorable kids today. It was okay, what more can I expect from the neighbourhood. This is just a routine for me to get a cake for myself during my birthday and it doesn't matter if there is any one to share with me, however, (PL grins evilly) my brother will sure finish it up for me. Hohoho!!!

This is my birthday cake, (no mango cake this year T_T) despite the look, it tasted delicious but not that excellent. haha..

Oh, one last thing, Juan and I went to change our ez-link cards when we met up on that day. I realised that the pattern and colour varies from different places, the post office branch at my neighbourhood, I saw them with the light purple one. =~

Open the door

Yesterday, I went to Juan's house with Zhihui. Juan had invited us to her house for CNY celebration again. She invited us last year too.

It was the usual girls' talk with some snacks to munch on. We will talk from the past to present and towards the future. ^^And of course, talking about future, it means getting married and so on...blah...blah...but in order to get married, you need a partner to do that...so that's our main topic for yesterday. Hahaha...

I had signed up for www.whoworksaroundyou.com to get to know more people, to increase my circle of friends and we urged Hui (Zhihui) to sign up but she (die, die) refused to do so!!! @$&&@$%%^ (PL: Just do it!!!) In the end, Juan was reprimanding both of us...T_T; she said to me, " You should open the door instead of locking the door, when someone came knocking on it" and she said to Hui, " You should first let other people to know where's your door" Hehehe...Hui and I were just "pot calling the kettle black".

Haha, maybe I was unable to open the current door because the door in the past was still opened...I just refused to close it...haiz...

Weighing Scale

Recently, I had been pondering whether had I made the wrong choice of not entering the university when I first graduated from Secondary school. My brother is opting out from the NS in June this year and he had decided to apply for a vacancy in local university so we had been discussing alot on this issue, regarding results, money and other related issues. Alot of my friends are studying part-time degree now and it is good to constantly upgrading one self's skills, in order to be able to survive the worst.

I think I am partially regretting of not pursuing my degree back now. A degree is just a piece of paper but it grant you an interview for a better prospect and of course, higher salary. I have alot of working experience in my field but down to earth, I am just a diploma holder. Haiz...

However, learning has no age limit. You can learn from young till the day you leave this world, because there is just so much things to be discovered that I think a normal person's life span only covers half of it but most of it involves money. This is my fatal weakness. I started working early to support my family till now, and yar..I just mentioned this issue alot of times in my previous entries so I shall skip it now.

Life is full of ups and downs and we always have to weigh the cause and the consequences. Alot of time, the scale will tell you what is the best solution for you but are you prepared to take the consequences, be it now or future.

This is just a measure of my life, half of my life, to be precise. Haiz...
